The Cat Who Snitches On His Friends

Chris thinks his roommates are slobs.

Chris, the snitch. (photo by author)

Chris is a tidy boy. He always covers his business in the litter box. He covers for his friends as well. That’s a nice favor he does for them, and me. But he takes this need for clean to a whole new level I’ve never seen in a cat before.

A bit of wet food falls onto the floor from a bowl during dinner time? Chris scratches on the tile floor trying to cover it up.

Did someone hack up a hairball on the bed? Chris scratches at the covers trying to make it go away.

Did I drop a bit of food on the floor while preparing dinner? Chris even tries to make that go away as well.

So any time I see Chris repeatedly pawing at whatever surface he’s standing on at the moment, I know to go investigate right away and see what new mess he’s found.

Quite frankly, I thank him for this service on a daily basis. Living in a household with several cats, there are going to be messes. LOTS of messes. Thanks to Chris, I find them much sooner than I would on my own!

Thank you, Chris, for being my loveable, helpful, tidy snitch!
